Debrah C.Sickler-Voigt, Ph.D. is a Professor of Art Education at Middle Tennessee State University. She authored the widely-adopted art methods textbook Teachingand Learning in Art Education: Cultivating Students’ Potential from Pre-KThrough High School (2020). She is currently developing its second edition.Her latest book STEAM Teaching and Learning Through the Arts and Design: A Practical Guide for PK-12 Educators was published in 2023.

Sickler-Voigt received the National Art Education Association’s Southeastern Region HigherEducation Art Educator Award in2023 and the United States Society for Education Through Art’s ZiegfeldService Award in 2022. She served as the senior editor for NAEA’sAssessment Papers for Art Education. Her professional body of work emphasizes a“Yes, We Can” approach by providing educators, students, and administratorswith a sense of empowerment as they learn innovative methods for teaching,learning, creating, managing, and assessing the arts, design, and STEAM. Topicsof equity, diversity, and inclusion are central to her teaching and researchpractices.
